How many credits are required to complete the degree?
The Master of Business Administration consists of 43 hours of course work, including a core of 34 credit hours and 9 credit hours of courses in business or related fields (cognate electives).
Are all the courses 3 credits?
All of the courses are three credits with the exception of BADM 500 and MGMT 505, which are each two credits.
How many courses can I take each semester?
A full course load for a graduate student is nine credit hours in a semester or six credits in a summer session. A graduate student may carry no more than sixteen credit hours per semester.
How long does it take to complete the MBA program?
The MBA program can be completed within 1.5 to 2 years, but 2 years is the most common. Students are allowed up to seven years to complete the degree.
What concentrations are available?
Students have the option to complete the following concentration: general, social entrepreneurship, or international business.
Are you accredited?
The College of Business and Public Administration is one of a very select group of schools in the world whose graduate MBA program and undergraduate business programs are accredited by the AACSB International.
What is AACSB International?
AACSB International stands for The Association of Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. AACSB is a not-for-profit corporation of educational institutions, corporations, and organizations devoted to the promotion and improvement of higher education in business administration and management.
Accreditation from AACSB is a significant accomplishment, affirming high standards, strong faculty, and active research programs. UND's College of Business and Public Administration is one of approximately 450-plus schools out of 1,400 in the United States accredited by AACSB International.
Is the TOEFL test score required?
Yes, International students with English as a second language must complete the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) examination with a score of 550 or better for the paper examination or 213 or better for the computer examination. Applicants may also meet language requirements by presenting IETLS score of 6.5.
What is the average GMAT score of acepted applicants?
The average GMAT score for a full time student is 550 and a part time student is 551.
What is the minimum GMAT score accepted?
The minimum GMAT score accepted is 500. Under no circumstances will a student be admitted with a GMAT score under 450.
My undergraduate Grade Point Average was 2.8, what GMAT score do I need?
Applicants who fail to meet the minimum grade point average or GMAT requirements, but who otherwise show high potential for success may be considered for admission to Provisional Status, provided that they meet one of the following indices:
A composite index score of at least 1010, determined by the formula: (GMAT) + [200 x (overall undergraduate gpa)].
A composite index score of at least 1060, determined by the formula: (GMAT) + [200 x (last two years or equivalent undergraduate gpa)].
What do I need to be admitted in approved status?
Admission to Approved Status requires that all graduate school standards are met, a 500 GMAT score, overall grade point average of at least 3.0 or at least 3.25 for the last two years, or equivalent, of undergraduate work (based on a 4.0 scale), and satisfactory completion of the Common Body of Knowledge / MBA Prerequisite Curriculum).
What does it mean if I am admitted in provisional status?
Applicants who show high potential for success but do not meet the GMAT or grade point requirements may be considered for admission to Provisional Status. After any deficiencies are taken care of the student will then be moved to Accepted Status.
Can a person test out or pass out of any courses due to years of experience?
The College of Business and Public Administration does not give credit for life experience. If you have acquired the knowledge of a course, you can attempt to earn credit by examination. To learn what courses are available to test out of you can visit with the Graduate Advisor.
My undergraduate GPA is 3.95 and I have over 10 years of business experience; do I need to take the GMAT ?
Yes, the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score is part of the admission data needed to make an admission determination and therefore required for all applicants.
What is the application deadline?
The College of Business and Public Administration uses a "rolling" admission. Students may begin in the Fall, Spring or Summer. It is recommended that applications be submitted as early as possible to ensure admission and full consideration for financial aid. The priority deadline for summer admission is March 15th, fall admission is May 15th, and spring admission is October 15th.
Is there an application fee?
Yes, there is a $35.00 non-refundable application fee.
