Joe Farrell is from West Fargo, North Dakota, and currently works for Wells Fargo Advisors. He serves as the Branch Manager/First Vice President for the Wells Fargo branches located in Fargo and Jamestown, North Dakota, while also functioning as a financial advisor for his own client base. Through this job Joe works with households to help them plan for and navigate through retirement. He also oversees the activities of the other advisors and staff in the local offices by reviewing daily trading activity and correspondence with clients, as well as ensuring compliance with firm and industry procedures. After researching many MBA programs, Joe determined that UND was the right fit for him. “The courses are highly interactive. The content is extremely interesting and engaging. The professors are very approachable. The school’s administrative staff is very helpful and friendly. It’s been a home run in every way,” said Joe. With the program’s interdisciplinary scope, Joe feels that the program will help broaden his future professional options and will also provide him with dozens of contacts for future endeavors.
Samantha Herman is from York, Pennsylvania, and works as a Value Analysis Business Analyst at WellSpan Health. Her position entails analyzing savings opportunities and validating savings for implemented corporate initiatives. Samantha was drawn to the UND MBA program due to its affordability and convenient synchronous course delivery. “I enjoy the interaction I can have with my classmates and professors during class time with Adobe Connect. I am able to learn through the material from the professor but also through the professional experiences from some of my peers,” said Samatha. With a UND MBA degree, Samantha feels that she will become a more marketable individual and valuable asset to her organization with the knowledge and skillsets she has acquired.
Dana Kaufman was attracted to UND’s MBA program for its accreditation, affordability, and reputation. “I chose the UND MBA program because I liked how the program held a live class one night a week, said Dana. “This helps me keep up with the weekly assignments and studying so I don’t keep procrastinating during the whole semester. This online program also allows me to continue working full-time during the day while focusing on my studies in the evenings.” Working as a Credit Analyst at Cooper Tire and Rubber Company in Findlay, Ohio, Dana analyzes each customer’s financial statement annually to ensure the company assigns appropriate credit limits along with other financial tasks. It is fitting that her favorite course in the MBA program thus far has been Acct 509. “The topics are very interesting and Dr. Notbohm uses his real life examples which he then relates back to our course material,” said Dana. While she is still at the beginning the program, Dana has had positive experiences thus far. “My classmates and professors have all been very welcoming and kind during each course. So far, all of my professors have been flexible with the students’ busy schedules. They understand that we have families and full time jobs that may require us to work late or travel." Earning an MBA is a personal goal for Dana as she continuously plans for future management positions.
Joe Masucci, a Senior Analyst at Delta Air Lines, has strong ties to the University of North Dakota. He obtained his BBA degree in Airport Management from UND in 2011 and now resides in Atlanta, Georgia. In his current role he is responsible for performing analytical work on a variety of projects within the Delta Connection Organization. Topics of analyses include assisting rate resets with carriers to ensure unit cost remain competitive, addressing rate or payment issues arising from network or product changes, supporting resolution of commercial issues with DC carriers, and benchmarking current carrier costs with others in the regional industry. Joe chose the UND MBA program because “UND is a highly regarded university in the aviation industry. The UND online MBA program provides the benefit of flexibility while providing an interactive live learning experience.” This live learning environment has enabled Joe to connect and network with his classmates and instructors. “The instructors and staff that I have interacted with have been very helpful and quick to respond,” said Joe. Looking towards the future, Joe believes that the MBA program will provide him with the tools and skills necessary to continue growing in his career.
Daryl Olson was born and raised on a ranch near Bowman, North Dakota. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies/Pastoral Ministry from Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, North Dakota, Daryl pursued his Master’s Degree in Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. Daryl is currently a student in the UND MBA program. He has found his courses have assisted him in his role as Director of Advancement Services for Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton. His position oversees certain aspects of the operations side of fundraising for the seminary and includes management, marketing, financial, and legal components. The MBA program has provided him a framework for making decisions based on sound business processes and approaches. With three small children, a full-time job, and other commitments, Daryl enjoys the flexibility of being able to take one course per semester.
