This graduate certificate program will provide students with a strong foundation in theoretical economics, as well as data analytical skills. The program will become available starting in the fall 2018 semester and requires a minimum of 12 credits in four core courses:
ECON 416 Math for Economists
ECON 504 Advanced Price Theory
ECON 505 Advanced Macroeconomic Theory
ECON 506 Econometrics
Students who wish to do so will be afforded the opportunity to enroll in further eligible elective courses offered in order to develop additional expertise in a range of advanced areas such as data analytics and econometrics, finance, and international economics.
Central to this program is its hybrid course offering. Students have the option to take courses “live” both from campus or a distance in order to better interact with fellow classmates and the professor. Lectures are also recorded to accommodate working professionals.
Students who complete the certificate program and further wish to pursue the Master’s in Applied Economics program may transfer the 12 credits of certificate coursework into the master’s program.
