HULTBERG LECTURESHIP
On February 9, 2006, we held our annual Hultberg lectureship, inviting back to campus four former female UND students to share their experiences. The intended purpose of the event is to both recognize the accomplishments of our former students and to provide role models for our current students. This year Kari Benson,  Managing Director, Spherion, Miami, FL; Deb Eblen, Great Plains Consultant, Eide Bailly Technology Consulting, Fargo, ND; Melissa (Stevenson) Martin, Controller, Cargill Marine and Terminal, West Des Moines, IA; and Mary Nicholson Ketterling, Chief Financial Officer, Spirit Lake Casino & Resort, St, Michael, ND were the honored speakers.

OLAFSON ETHICS SYMPOSIUM
The College of Business and Public Administration hosted the Olafson Ethics Symposium for faculty, students, and the community on October 28, 2005.  The symposium featured Lynn Brewer, Founder and President of the Integrity Institute and whistleblower from Enron and Tim Dordell, Associate General Counsel for Ecolab.   This will now be an annual event with the second annual event taking place on November 17, 2006 featuring Ron James, CEO of the Center for Ethical Business Cultures.  This event will also feature a one credit course this year taught by Dr. James Haskins from the Finance Department.

MELLEM INTERNATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYMPOSIUM
The College of Business and Public Administration hosted the Mellem International Telecommunications Symposium during Homecoming 2006.  The kickoff event was held on Wednesday, October 4th and featured Michael Kopps, FCC commissioner as the keynote speaker.  The event continued on Thursday, October 5th and included a series of speakers and breakout sessions during the day.  The speakers included Allison Ellis, Director of Regulatory Policy for Ericsson; Dr. Adam Drobot, President of Telecordia Advanced Technologies; Dr. Robert Sullivan, Dean of Rady College of Management, University of California, San Diego; and Ed Schafer, CEO, Expand America. 

COBPA BUSINESS CONFERENCE
The CoBPA Business Conference, an event in which alumni and regional business leaders share with college students their business savvy and first-hand professional experiences, hosted the following speakers: Jeffrey Gorder, ’92 UND Grad, now the Director of Marketing and Business Development at Little&Company in Minneapolis, MN. Laura Block ‘81 UND Grad (Acct), is the CFO of the UND Foundation and Alumni Association Sally Bosh, ’73 UND Grad (BSBA Acct), is Vice President and Controller for Phoenix International in Fargo, ND. Gary Marsden, ’63 UND Grad (BSBA Busn Admin).  President and CEO of Marco Business Products in St. Cloud, MN.  Each speaker was given an opportunity to address the theme“The Road Ahead:  Career Stages after College” and motivate students on how to put their UND degree to work after graduation. This year the event was held on March 4, 2006 at the Burtness Theater and the entire event is organized by the Business and Public Administration Student Council.

ENTREPRENEUR FORUMS
In an effort to provide additional services to the entrepreneurs on campus or in the Grand Forks community, the Center for Innovation offers a monthly Entrepreneur Forum.  The forums cover a range of topics that entrepreneurs face when trying to launch a business and host numerous experts on entrepreneurship. On January 17 & 18, 2006; the College participated in the Marketplace for Entrepreneurs.  Staff from the Dean’s office, members of the faculty, and staff from the SBDC and Center for Innovation were involved in the execution of the Marketplace event. 

BUZZ ON BIZ ENTREPRENEURSHIP CAMP
The seventh annual Buzz on Biz program was offered during the summer of 2006. We offer this program to teach 6th to 8th grade students about entrepreneurship. The business activity included the development and creation of pretzel bites and they were mentored by various business and community leaders.  The event also included a trip to Fargo to visit Quality Bakery, Breadsmiths, and Great Harvest Bakery as well as Great Plains Software.
