When and where are the internships available?

  • Internships are scheduled during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
  • You will work with an entrepreneur within the Greater Grand Forks Area (or in some cases outside of Grand Forks).
  • You need to be in contact with Craig Silvernagel, Entrepreneurship Director, to be paired with your internship.  Do not wait until your last semester on campus to find this opportunity.

How will I personally benefit from the internship?

You will get out of the program what you put into it. You will have the opportunity to see and learn what it takes to start a business and build it from the ground up, and what it takes to keep it going. These experiences can be transferred to other jobs and help you when it’s time for you to start your own business. Even if you never decide to become an entrepreneur, the semester you spend working with an entrepreneur is one you won’t soon forget.

What is the purpose of the internship Program?
UND’s Entrepreneurship Intern Program is designed primarily to give future Entrepreneurs a head start on developing their businesses. The program will give you, through the mentoring of current entrepreneurs, the experience to solve many of the problems you will face running a business of your own.
Local businesses will be able to expand into new projects through efforts of interns. The interns will apply the skills they have gained from their education here at the University of North Dakota. These students will add additional knowledge and part-time labor needed by local entrepreneurs.
In the past interns have worked on projects such as:

  • Market Research
  • Research New Markets
  • Business Plan writing
  • Public Relations
  • Developing Communications
  • Organizational specialist
  • Website development
  • Developing a strategic plan
  • Developing a Marketing Plan
