Options to Complete MBA Prerequisites
'

The College of Business and Public Administration requires certain core prerequisite courses or its equivalent be successfully completed prior to admission to the Master of Business Administration program. If attending on campus classes is not an optimal option, the University of North Dakota College of Business and Public Administration offer several other options.  These options include:

  1. The College of Business and Public Administration (CoBPA) Challenge Exam.

Pertinent information:

    • Secure the textbook for the individual courses and study the course material individually in order to pass.
    • Pass with a 70% or better. 
    • The challenge exams are free for a pre-mba student and you are allowed one attempt with each exam. 
    • Exams vary but are mainly True or False and Multiple Choice questions. 
    • Challenge exams exist for all 12 of the MBA prerequisite courses.

  1. Complete the courses through the Division of Continuing Education at UND.   

The Division of Continuing Education at UND offers online or correspondence coursework that can be utilized. The following is a comprehensive list of MBA Prerequisites that maybe taken through our Division of Continuing Education:

  • Acct 200: Principles of Accounting I
  • Acct 201: Principles of Accounting II
  • Acct 315: Business in the Legal Environment
  • Econ 201: Principles of Microeconomics
  • Econ 202: Principles of Macroeconomics
  • Econ 210: Introduction to Business & Economic Statistics
  • Fin310: Principles of Financial Management
  • Isys 317: Information Systems in Enterprise
  • Mgmt 305: Managerial Concepts (The Program will accept this for Mgmt 300)
  • Math 146: Applied Calculus or Math 165: Calculus I

  1. The National CLEP exam.

Pertinent information:

    • Secure the textbook and study the course material individually in order to pass.
    • Exams are offered at most institutions testing centers
    • Exams are a national exam consisting of multiple choice questions
    • Cost approx. $60 each 

The College-Level Examination Program® or CLEP provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of exams in undergraduate college courses. There are 2,900 colleges that grant credit and/or advanced standing for CLEP exams.  Information about the CLEP examinations can be found at www.collegeboard.com/clep

    • Financial Accounting CLEP exam for Acct 200
    • Introductory Business Law CLEP exam for Acct 315
  • Principles of Microeconomics CLEP exam for Econ 201
  • Principles of Macroeconomics CLEP exam for Econ 202
  • Information Systems and Computer Applications CLEP exam for ISYS 317
  • Principles of Management CLEP exam for Mgmt 300
  • Principles of Marketing CLEP exam for Mrkt 305
  • Calculus CLEP exam for Math 146

MBA Prerequisites That Do Not Have Acceptable CLEP Examinations

  • Acct 201
  • Econ 210
  • Fin 310
  • Mgmt 301
  1. Complete the course at any regionally accredited college.
