Welcome to the Lanterman Center's Student Managed Investment Fund
'

Beginning in the fall of 2005, the College of Business and Public Administration (COBPA) at the University of North Dakota joined a growing number of business schools by providing students the opportunity to manage and administer an investment portfolio. Such an opportunity is rare among business schools across the country.

The COBPA believes strongly in experiential learning. Through this program, students receive hands-on experience in the field of finance by allowing them to actually manage a portfolio instead of doing simulations. Students work in small groups conducting research and analysis, and present formal investment recommendations to the Investment Advisory Committee comprised of faculty and professionals. Students are responsible for managing all aspects of the Investment Fund: research, investment management, administration and client services.

The benefits to being a member of the Student Managed Investment Fund are enormous. In addition to improving quantitative and qualitative research skills, the Student Managed Investment Fund members gain experience that is sure to be a valuable tool in advancing career opportunities and employment options in the investments field. Besides that, what’s more fun than making money?
