B.B.A. Major in Investments
The Investments major offers a focus on investing, professional asset management, and risk management. This major is designed to provide students with an appropriate balance between theoretical knowledge and specific decision-making skills. Foundation courses cover modern finance theory and modeling, including valuation of both financial and real assets.
Students may be admitted to the College of Business & Public Administration and may elect a major within a business discipline after completing at least 60 semester hours at UND or other accredited institutions.
They must also have earned a minimum grade point average of 2.50 (2.0 is C) in all courses attempted and a “C” or better in the six courses comprising a sophomore-level pre-business core.
Students planning to transfer to UND from a junior college should enroll in only those junior college business courses that are offered as freshman or sophomore level courses at UND.
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1: Students will understand key theoretical concepts and be able to use these concepts in problem solving.
Students demonstrate knowledge of investment theory.
Students solve problems using their acquired knowledge of investment theory.
Goal 2: Students acquire analytical skills.
Students demonstrate appropriate application of performance measurement skills.
Students demonstrate appropriate application of investment valuation skills.
Goal 3: Students acquire decision-making skills.
Students demonstrate ability to apply successfully financial decision models within a variety of possible investment scenarios.
Students demonstrate judgment in applying financial decision models to an unanticipated set of circumstances.
Required 125 credits (36 of which must be numbered 300 or above, and 60 of which must be from a 4-year institution)
