Research
Where inquiry drives leadership, policy, and performance.
Research is a cornerstone of the Nistler College of Business & Public Administration. Students have opportunities to work on research projects independently or alongside faculty mentors, gaining valuable skills and hands-on experience. Guided by accomplished scholars and industry experts, students learn from faculty who are advancing knowledge and addressing real-world challenges in their fields.
Published Faculty
Our faculty are active researchers who contribute new knowledge to their fields and help solve real-world challenges. They publish their work in leading academic journals, present at regional, national, and international conferences, and serve in professional organizations that help shape the future of business and public administration.
Many faculty members collaborate with researchers from across the University of North Dakota, bringing business and public administration perspectives to important multidisciplinary projects. Their work supports key areas of UND excellence, including autonomous systems, energy and the environment, rural health, and regional economic development.
Faculty also partner through the Institute of Policy and Business Analytics (IPBA), located in Nistler Hall. The IPBA serves as a center for research collaboration, data-driven analysis, and external funding opportunities. Through this work, faculty provide evidence-based insights that help inform public policy, strengthen communities, and support economic growth in North Dakota and beyond.
Gain Research Experience
Student involvement is a key part of our research mission. We provide opportunities for students to explore research topics that interest them, either independently or in collaboration with faculty mentors.
Students have gained valuable hands-on experience through research internships with programs such as Energy Hawks and organizations including the North Dakota Department of Commerce. They also work alongside faculty on research projects and have shared their findings at conferences, seminars, and other professional events.
Industry Collaboration
At Nistler College, we value strong partnerships with businesses, entrepreneurs, and community organizations. These collaborations create opportunities for students and faculty to apply their knowledge, support innovation, and make a positive impact across the region.
The Center for Business Engagement and Development (CBE&D),located in Nistler Hall, plays a key role in supporting small businesses and economic growth throughout North Dakota. Through the center, students and faculty work with businesses on real-world projects, gaining valuable experience while helping strengthen local communities.
The CBE&D also provides access to data, research opportunities, and business resources that support faculty and student research, creating meaningful connections between the classroom, research, and industry.
