Experiential Learning

At UND’s Department of Marketing, students don’t just learn about marketing—they live it. Our students dive into hands-on projects with local businesses, helping solve real challenges and seeing the impact of their ideas in action. From developing marketing plans and analyzing consumer insights to creating digital strategies for actual clients, experiential learning is built into everything we do.

Beyond the classroom, students expand their skills through internships, industry competitions, community partnerships, and networking with marketing professionals. It’s learning that feels real, relevant, and exciting—preparing our graduates to step confidently into the fast-paced world of marketing.

Experiential Learning Opportunities

Below are just a few of the impactful opportunities for students to participate in:

  • Internships & Cooperative Experiences - Internships and cooperative education provide students with real-world experience, helping them build professional skills and make valuable industry connections.
  • Community Involvement - Through hands-on class projects, students collaborate with local businesses and nonprofits, strengthening their marketing and sales experience while serving the community.
  • Student Clubs - Engagement in student clubs, including Marketing Club, Sales Club, DECA, and Women in Business, allows students to sharpen their skills, expand their networks, and learn from real-world activities and professional events.
  • Student Competitions - Competing in national and international marketing and sales competitions allows students to test their skills, gain industry recognition, and build confidence on a global stage.
  • Alumni Engagement - Through Guest Speakers, the Executive in Residence program, Marketing Power Lunch events, and the Marco Sales Workshop - students are provided with valuable industry insights, mentorship, and real-world perspectives that enrich their learning experience.
  • Enhanced Curriculum - Courses integrate industry-recognized marketing and sales certifications to give students a competitive edge in the job market.
