Message from the Chair

Welcome to the Department of Economics and Finance.

It is my pleasure to welcome you — on behalf of our faculty and staff — to the Department of Economics and Finance! Our Department is part of the Nistler College of Business and Public Administration at the University of North Dakota, and our faculty are dedicated to excellence in education and cutting-edge research. Our comprehensive curriculum provides students with a solid understanding of the synergetic disciplines of economics, financial analysis, and quantitative methods. Students use real-world applications of knowledge taught in classes to sharpen their analytical skills, broaden their comprehension of the major issues facing our community, country, and world today, as well as understand traditional economic concerns surrounding markets and institutions, and decision-making by households, investors, firms, and government. The outstanding curriculum is designed to prepare students for making sound business decisions and for employment in sectors such as banking and financial services, governmental, quasi-governmental, and non-governmental organizations, corporate financial management, investment management, and the insurance industry. Our faculty is committed to preparing students for successful and rewarding careers.

Our graduates are highly recruited with excellent placement by educational and research institutions, government agencies, and private industry.
