Scholarships in the Department of Economics & Finance are made possible through the generosity of donors who believe in supporting student success. These awards help recognize academic achievement, ease the cost of education, and allow students to focus on building skills and experiences that prepare them for careers in business, government, and beyond.
Economics and Finance Scholarships
The Perry and Stacy (Vinger) Mattern Scholarship is awarded to one or more students studying Economics and Finance within the Nistler College of Business and Public Administration. First preference shall be given to a student majoring in Finance, second preference shall be given to Banking and Finance majors. Preference shall also be given to students with a 3.0 GPA or higher, financial need, and students from rural/farm communities in Western North Dakota.
The Linda and Mike Appert Scholarship is awarded to students majoring in Economics or Finance in the Nistler College of Business & Public Administration. Preference shall be given to students from North Dakota.
The Jill and Steve Cholewa Sport Business Scholarship is awarded to one or more junior or senior students, each year, who are majoring or minoring in Sport Business within the Nistler College of Business and Public Administration.
The John and Kaye Hoffert Sport Business Scholarship is awarded one or more student(s) minoring in sports business within the College of Business and Public Administration. If there are not any students minoring in Sport Business, then the scholarship will be awarded to any student enrolled within the College of Business and Public Administration.
The Dale L. Bjerke Scholarship is awarded to one or more students who are majoring in Banking and Finance within the Nistler College of Business and Public Administration.
The DeWayne and Mona Streyle Dean’s Emerging Leaders Scholarship is awarded to one or more students who are majoring in Banking and Finance within the Nistler College of Business and Public Administration.

In addition to major-specific scholarships, the Nistler College of Business & Public Administration provides more than $1.5 million in scholarships each year.
