Senior Manager, Boulay PLLP
"While pursuing my BBA (double major in Information Systems and Business Management, minor in Economics) at UND, I developed a strong foundation in IT and business strategy. UND challenged me to think analytically, work effectively with diverse teams, and communicate complex ideas clearly – skills that continue to shape my work today. I am currently a senior manager in the risk advisory practice at Boulay PLLP, a Minneapolis-based accounting and financial consulting firm. In this role, I work with clients around the world to help mature their information security risk posture. Before Boulay, I spent about two years building and leading the IT and information security programs at a startup company. I began my professional career at one of the Big Four accounting firms, where I spent six years in risk advisory."
"My twofold advice to current and future NCoPBA students reflects my own experiences. First, take advantage of opportunities: At UND, I was involved in many different student organizations and activities and worked both on- and off-campus. While I pursued these experiences because I genuinely enjoyed them, they also helped me build a strong résumé, develop professionally, and grow as a well-rounded individual. Being involved on campus opened doors and allowed me to network with university leadership and business leaders. That mindset has carried into my career. Today, I remain actively involved through public speaking, mentoring with the Pancratz Mentor Program, participating in Boulay’s internal mentoring initiatives, and serving on the firm’s incentive compensation committee."
"Second, stay curious and always keep learning. The most successful professionals are those who continuously expand their knowledge – whether through graduate education, professional certifications, or simply learning independently through books, podcasts, and new experiences. Ongoing learning not only keeps your skills relevant, but also helps you adapt quickly and stand out in a competitive job market. This is especially important as emerging technologies like artificial intelligence reshape nearly every industry. After UND, I earned a master’s degree in IT, an MBA, and multiple cybersecurity-related certifications – all of which have helped accelerate my career and broaden my perspective."
"Ultimately, embracing opportunities and building new skills through continuous learning will open doors you didn’t even know existed."
